On 22 September 2020, ALTERFOR organized a digital workshop together with the European State Forest Association EUSTAFOR. Together with representatives of forest owners' associations, woodworking industries and environmental NGOs, ALTERFOR researchers discussed the consequences that alternative forest management models could have in different forested areas in Europe, also considering the expansion of these models to the European scale. Detailed examples for currently used and alternative silvicultural methods from Germany, Ireland, Lithuania and Sweden illustrated the research base for the scenarios at the European level. One of the participants described the half-day workshop with these words:  “(…) I believe such kind of trade-off comparisons between ALTERFOR scenarios can be very useful to inform the debate with other sectors and powerful stakeholders (…).”
